2nd Weekend in Breckenridge

Had a fantastically productive week at work and decided to reward myself with a Friday afternoon ride with my host Brian.  He's hard to keep up with, but has been cool enough to show me some nice trails... Starting with views from Sally Barber mine then a perfect decent back home on the fittingly named trail... "Aspen Alley".

Made it home in time to clean up and roll back down the hill to catch the last of the beautiful day... The sunset view from the Boreas pass (about 100 feet from the driveway) and kicking my feet up for the last little bit of daylight downtown.

Saturday afternoon I met up with Holly and Andrew (both UNCW alumn!) for a hike up McCullough (coincidentally Andrew's last name) Gulch for some nice lake and waterfall views... VERY similar to last weekend's hike which I totally could have done all over again, but this hike is just one ridge over and just as beautiful.

The best part about living in paradise is that you can sleep in late, make a huge breakfast, read and play guitar, clean the house and still have plenty of time to head out for a world-class ride!  Down the ridge into Frisco, around the peninsula and back to Breck on the bike path for about 25 miles total...

Random Cool Breck Stuff

Got the office set up in sweet my little apartment home for the next month!  Drinks downtown Friday afternoon on first day of Oktoberfest! A couple of random cool shots from three separate outings: random old homestead on a fire road cyclo-cross ride, community artwork on the side of a bike trail and nice lake view (with no trespassing sign a few feet away from me).

Day Hike - Mohawk Lake

Woah, this place is a 10 minute drive from my house!  Of course then there is a 4 mile hike and 2000+ ft of elevation between the trail-head and the lakes...  Nice to be able to make it happen after a lazy Sunday and only deciding to head out around 15:30... I was the last man up (except for a couple of campers that were staying the night, I'll take my pack next time) and folks seemed pretty amused that I was just headed out when they had gotten their start at 10:00.  Perfect time of day, perfect weather and a killer workout!  Some of the best pics of the trip so far, so I had to post a lot...  Saw beautiful waterfalls, old cabins and mine ruins, 5 different lakes and some MEAN mountain goats (look closely at the last pic, seriously that mama was not going to let me pass by without some sweet-talking/yelling).
